This page explains how the personal data of visitors to bytestreet.it are processed, pursuant to Article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (the “GDPR”) and Italian Legislative Decree no. 196/2003 (the “Italian Privacy Code”). In short: the site uses no profiling cookies and no tracking tools, counts visits only in aggregate form and without cookies, has no registration forms and contains no content embedded from external platforms.
1. Data controller
The data controller is Leonardo Monti, author of the site, represented by his parents as holders of parental responsibility. For any privacy request you can write to info@bytestreet.it.
2. What data are processed, why and for how long
Browsing data
Like any website, the server hosting bytestreet.it automatically records some technical data for each request: IP address, date and time, requested page, response code, browser and operating system. These data are used only to run the site, to keep it secure (for example against unauthorised access or cyber attacks) and to detect malfunctions. They are not used to identify visitors or for commercial purposes.
Legal basis: the controller’s legitimate interest in the security and proper functioning of the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Retention: for the period set by the hosting provider’s settings and in any case only as long as strictly necessary for these purposes, unless they are needed to investigate criminal offences.
Protection of the login area
To protect the login page of the site’s administration area, the IP address of failed login attempts is recorded and, after a certain number of failures, temporarily blocked. Legal basis: legitimate interest in the security of the site (Art. 6(1)(f) and Recital 49 GDPR). These data remain on the site’s server and are not disclosed to third parties.
E-mail messages
If you write to one of the e-mail addresses shown on the site, your address and the data you include in your message are used only to reply to you and to handle the conversation. Legal basis: your request and the legitimate interest in following it up (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Messages are kept for as long as needed to handle the request and then deleted, unless they are needed to protect a right. Please do not send special categories of data (Art. 9 GDPR) or data about other people unless necessary.
Contact form
If you use the form on the Contact pages, your name, e-mail address, subject and message are processed only to reply to you. The message is stored in the reserved area of the site and forwarded by e-mail to the site’s mailboxes info@bytestreet.it and leonardo.monti@bytestreet.it, both managed by the controller. Legal basis: your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Messages are automatically deleted after 12 months, or earlier if no longer needed.
To block automated spam, the form uses no external services and no cookies: it checks a hidden field and the time taken to fill in the form, and counts how many messages arrive from the same connection. For this count the IP address is turned into a non-reversible code, kept for one hour and then deleted. To detect malfunctions, the time, the outcome and the type of browser used are noted for each submission (not the IP address or the content); only the last 30 events are kept. Legal basis: legitimate interest in protecting the site from abuse and keeping it working (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Visit statistics
To know how often pages are read, the site uses Koko Analytics, a tool installed on the site’s own server that uses no cookies, does not recognise individual visitors and sends no data to third parties. Only aggregate totals are kept (views per page and referring sites), which do not allow anyone to be identified. Site administrators are excluded from the count.
3. Cookies
The site uses no profiling, statistics or third-party cookies: the visit statistics described above also work without cookies. The only cookies set are WordPress technical cookies, needed by those who log in to the administration area to stay signed in; ordinary visitors do not receive any. Technical cookies do not require consent (Art. 122(1) of the Italian Privacy Code; guidelines of the Italian Data Protection Authority on cookies and other tracking tools, decision of 10 June 2021), which is why the site shows no cookie banner.
Fonts are hosted directly on the site’s server: displaying them involves no requests to external services such as Google Fonts.
4. Who processes the data
The data are processed by the controller and, on the controller’s behalf, by the hosting and e-mail service provider, Moviement S.r.l. (MVMNet), based in Padua, Italy, which acts as processor under Art. 28 GDPR. The data are not disseminated, sold or passed on to third parties, nor transferred by the controller to countries outside the European Economic Area.
The site contains links to external websites (for example the Italian Olympiads in Informatics training platform): by clicking them you leave bytestreet.it and those sites’ own privacy notices apply.
5. Whether providing data is mandatory, and automated decisions
Browsing data are necessary to visit the site; sending an e-mail or using the form is optional, but without an address it is not possible to reply. No decisions are taken based solely on automated processing, including profiling (Art. 22 GDPR).
6. Your rights
At any time, by writing to info@bytestreet.it, you can request:
- access to your data (Art. 15 GDPR);
- rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16);
- erasure of your data (Art. 17);
- restriction of processing (Art. 18);
- data portability, where applicable (Art. 20);
- to object to processing based on legitimate interest, on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21).
You will receive a reply without undue delay and in any case within one month of your request (Art. 12(3) GDPR). If you believe that the processing infringes the law, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (Art. 77 GDPR; www.garanteprivacy.it), or with the supervisory authority of the EU country where you live or work, or take legal action (Art. 79 GDPR).
7. Changes
This notice may be updated, for example if new features are added to the site. The version in force is always the one published on this page. This English text is a translation of the Italian privacy notice.
